Who Are We?
Fides is the Latin word for "faith" or "faithful". These two words describe this apostolate exactly. We are all about promoting formation in the Catholic faith, and doing it in a way that is completely faithful to our Shepherds, the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Although Fides is a new apostolate, it is rooted in more than 30 years of experience in catechetical work in Catholic parishes, dioceses as well as universities. Fides seeks to meet three important needs:
1) The publication of quality high school religion texts that can be used to form young people intellectually and spiritually in their faith and equip them as disciples of Christ and missionaries of His Kingdom in a secular society;
2) Availability of on-line faith formation classes at an affordable price for those who teach the faith in Catholic schools and parishes, so that they can be well equiped to serve as catechists and lead others into intimacy with Christ (cf. Catechesi Tradendae, #5);
3) To apply the time-tested principles of Catholic Social Teaching to business and corporate life so that they can better carry out their mission and help their employees to experience a deeper sense of commitment and responsibility in the workplace as they come to understand their role of stewardship and service to the common good of our society.
These three aspects of our apostolate are all related to discipleship, formation and mission. This is what Fides is all about. We hope that you will be part of the renewal of faith, mission and discipleship among the lay faithful so that you will be able to use your gifts will help build up the Church in our time!
